Waiting...
May. 14th, 2005 11:54 amI have a customer coming around to collect a copy of a Lord Dunsany book. I hate waiting for customers. He said he'd come around in the morning and there's only ten minutes of morning left and I've got a ton of things to do outside. Missed my usual Saturday morning trawl through Belconnen opshops because of this bloke, made up for by glorious 4-way chat on AIM.
Sorry about that rejected invitation, G. I didn't read your LJ until later, and thought it might be some sort of IM spam, as I didn't recognise the name.
Having said that, IM does chew up a lot of time, and I'm torn between wanting to spend time with my friends online or do other stuff.

Date: 2005-05-14 05:23 pm (UTC)Sorry I'll miss you when we head up to Columbia. What's the name of that restaurant you've been going to for years? It sounded lovely.

Date: 2005-05-14 05:29 pm (UTC)The restaurant is V&T. It is on Amsterdam Avenue at 110th Street.
By the way, Tom's Restaurant, corner of Broadway and 112th Street is the one on Seinfeld. They always show shots of the outside and the "Restaurant" half of their name.
Tomo is a wonderful Japanese restaurant on Broadway between 110th and 111th Street.
Symposium is a lovely Greek restaurant on 113th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam.
Caffe Pertutti has good Italian food and WONDERFUL pastries (good place to stop just for dessert). They're on Broadway, around 112-113th Street.
Lots more all around, but those are some of my favs.

Date: 2005-05-14 06:16 pm (UTC)Good chinese food: Columbia Cottage, Amsterdam and 112th (I think). Good place for an afternoon coffee: Hungarian Pastry Shop, Amsterdam and 111th (or thereabouts)--wear black, bring a dense book :-). Sadly, Moon Palace, a great Chinese restaurant and a long time fixture closed about 10? years ago. They were the best chinese restaurant in the neighbourhood.

Date: 2005-05-14 05:59 am (UTC)I tend to only log into IMs when I have the time; right now I'm editing and that gives me some leeway. I take my laptop offline when I have to.
Cheered me right up!
