Flights of Freedom
May. 15th, 2005 09:22 pmFelt like a juggler today, as the potato wedges kept coming and the books kept coming and the Bookcrossers kept on making jokes. Hey, one said, if you order pasta and antipasto does that mean you go hungry?"
Kerri's work supplied laptop was a nice little machine. Supplied without a login password, as we discovered when testing it a couple of hours prior to Kerri leaving. Departmental computer staff unavailable, so I made a quick backup of all my photo files from the London trip, created an account for her, and handed over my laptop. Even as I write these words, it's somewhere over South East Asia on the way to Berlin.
And so is my dear wife. I told her to dig in as soon as she arrived, and get some wire out as soon as possible after that, but she laughed away my worries.
But I didn't get to see her off as she took the first hop to Sydney. I was below her flight path on the road to Picton with Peggysmum where we attended the second GFKAM* with Woosang, catsalive, sabavana and one or two others.
Two hours of fun - Woosang is one enthusiastic Bookcrosser, running two OBCZs and distributing books by the trainload. A woman after my own heart.
Home again to takeaway pizza as ordered by DD, who neglected to specify anything resembling a vegetable on either of the two family size pizzas. I like meat, but a pizza consisting of base, sauce and meat is far from short of my idea of a well-balanced meal, and no, garlic bread doesn't supply balance. On the contrary.
But it was fun to talk to Peggysmum for two hours there and two hours back. A delightful trip!
