Just making a note before leaving my hotel room. Final cup of tea, last transmission on the freebie wireless internet, last moments in comfort.

It's been fun. I love travelling and seeing new things. Washington has been a wonderful experience, not least for the people I've met. But the amazing objects in the museums and elsewhere have also been great to see. The Apollo 11 command module, the Declaration of Liberty, Symphony in White, the Wall, JFK's grave.

I arrive in Canberra on Monday afternoon after missing Sunday. That's the extra Friday I had on the way here. Another couple of days of screwed up time zones and body clock.

Glad you enjoyed Washington. Too bad the weather wasn't a little warmer so you could do some of the incredible walks through the city. (ava.org)

Hope you have/had a safe trip home! [I enjoyed your trip writeups. And I'm only slightly jealous that you've visited DC from halfway around the world while I, who am a US citizen and everything, have not - even though I could drive there in less time than it took you to fly. One of these days!]

A safe trip home was had. Much as I enjoy travelling, it's good to be home.

I am really really glad that I visited Washington. I could have spent a week just skimming the surface of each of so many wonderful galleries and museums.

And I am indebted to ResQgeek and his family, who took us to a great restaurant where we chatted until they threw us out. Wish I'd been able to give more notice of my trip.

Having said that, I'm now looking forward to London and Fort Worth in April.
