On to Amerika!

Saturday. We will leave Ramstein, drive to Amsterdam, drop off Cookie and Melydia, find a hotel not too far from the airport, possibly hve dinner withlocal friends and sleep.

Sunday. We take our delayed flights. First to London, then onto Chicago, getting in at 1815, with immigration.

Monday, we are at leisure all day in Chicago.

Tuesday, we leave O'Hare at 1400, arriving San Francisco 1630. Staying at my favourite youth hostel.

Wednesday we have San Francisco to ourselves.

Thursday evening we leave for LAX, pause and then board our A380 home to Canberra via Sydney.

If you would like to get together, just let me know. The kids and I are free nearly all day Monday. Jason, of course, has to work during the day. He might be able to do dinner.

Sounds good to me. Can fill you all in on some of the adventures we've been having. We'll hire a car at O'Hare and drive out - should be cheaper than taking taxis. I'm thinking Kerri and I could shout the Froebe tribe to a dinner somewhere.

Skyring: Excellent. I believe you have my number, but if not I'll send it to you again just in case. Give me a call when you folks get in, and we'll figure out the whats and wheres then.

Mojosmom: You know a lot more about city restaurants than I do, if you want to pick a place, or come up with a few options that would be child friendly, that would be great. I never seem to get into the city anymore. If not, that's okay too. We can play it by ear. ;)

I suspect that my phone needs some adjustment before it will work again. Turning on data roaming to look for stuff in foreign countries might have put me over the limit without a chunk of money.

Will call or email you from the hotel. I've ordered a car, and we can drive out to your location if you can think of a place that's family friendly and serves good hearty tucker.

Possibly we can pick up Mojosmom along the way.

Just arrived at our hotel. The rental company gave us a Ford Edge, which is well in the running for world's ugliest car. Room 409 at the hotel Mojosmom recommended, if you need to contact us direct.

Assuming it stops raining, we'll try for the architecture river cruise, the Tiffany ceiling and the Art Institute.

Now strongly considering bed - it's a long day from Amsterdam!
