The flights for our onward passage are showing up correctly, but whether that will still be so at a useful time is problematic. We are supposed to fly out Monday morning.

If they don't show, we'll sit here until we can continue on. Our Canadian roadtrip could be a casualty. Either cancelled or curtailed.

But the shutdown won't last two weeks, and there are worse places to ride out a disaster.

In other news, it's been a fantastic convention, over now for me.

Kerri and I are pursuing our own plans for today, involving the Royal Palace, a ship museum and dinner from the Dutch East Indies.

Hope you aren't stuck there too long and don't miss too much of your plans.

Glad the Convention was still a blast in spite of the volcano-bound absentees!

Funny, all the time I worked in A'dam I never went inside the Royal Palace. But I know the sheep fart museum - you'll love it, especially the Eastindiaman!

I keep looking here and on the BC site for actual reports about the Convention but very little so far.
Do hope you don't miss too much of your planned trip.
Watching, watching for more details.

I think I'm going to have to cancel unless something good happens real soon. Email (well, LJ-mail) sent with more.

Really sorry, because I've been looking forward to meeting - and hugging - you for the longest time.

Pete, ashen-faced

Glad you had such a good time, and that today sounds so interesting.

I just knew with your karma, that even delayed you would make the most of it ;=)

I wouldn't be too sure about it not lasting two weeks. The latest footage I just saw on Sky news showed it increasing in intensity. :/

Still there are worse places to be, at least you can get places by boat from Amsterdam...!

The news about the volcano and the closed airspace just registered with the older daughter this morning. Now she's worried about her trip to Paris and London, which isn't until July. I tried to reassure her that it is MUCH too early to worry about it now, but I'm not sure she believed me. I think it helped that her trip leaders didn't seem at all worried at the meeting we had today.

It was so good to meet you, I had gotten a bit worried you may have gotten stuck in Istanbul, so it was heartwarming to see you arrived :)

I hope you had a great time, thanks for bringing Jay's hug and accepting one in return :)

Wishing you safe travels and lots of fun :) Hope you like the 'rijsttafel' dinner!
