Busy day today. Magna's in for work to replace various seals and gaskets, presumably the ones that stop oil from leaking out everywhere and burning off in a cloud of blue smoke. So that's a walk to and from town.

I've been putting off covering the convention book. Not much of a crafty person, so it looks a bit rough around the edges, and I'll cover it up with a layer of contact to seal in my sins. Take it to the Meetup tonight and then post it off somewhere. Ali, if you are reading this, do you think you could find a few people in London to make entries? I don't mind who journals it or where it goes, so long as it is in Christchurch by Easter for the NZ convention. I'll either take it to Fort Worth myself or post it there. The latter is far more likely, I'm sorry to say, unless I get orders for all my high-priced books, there's a massive boost in the market and/or my book(s) become extremely popular.

Paying for the work on the car and another instalment on DS's braces doesn't help. That's another bit of time out of my day, though I doubt if sitting around in the orthodontist's waiting room will consume more than ten minutes or so. He's pretty efficient.

I've got to whip up a cover and print up a copy of my book. I say it's in draft format because it is. I'm painfully aware of its limitations. At least I'm not wrting much in the way of sex scenes, and what little I write is more fun than anything else. Tzurriz reports from the Bad Sex Writing Awards, quoting some hideous tripe, including some from Tom Wolfe, who should know better by now.

Rewrote the final few paragraphs to put a twist on it. A bit of indirect sex, but it's entirely in the mind of the reader, which is the best place for it.

The books I left on behalf of Ann and Scott at the Go Go Bar in Darlinghurst have been snapped up. Left as an exercise for the reader to puzzle about how they got from various diverse locations around Sydney (including the inside of a fridge in Balgowlah) to a known Bookcrosser haunt. Humph!

One of the local WriMos has offered to co-ordinate the shipping of a free printing of NaNos by Lulu. On the 18th. o I've been busting a gut to get the thing into at least the correct format. Word 2003 insists on adding in a whole bunch of extra styles whenever I turn my back on it.

DD has sent a text message from Ho Chi Minh City. She's fine but internet cafes are thin on the ground, or at least the time to go hunt one up is in short supply. With a tour group I can't see her getting much internet time unless there is one in the night's hotel.

So I won't be bringing the camera to record tonight's HUGE Bookcrossing meetup because it's in Vietnam.

I'll lose it for a week in January - Kerri's being sent to Washington in the middle of their winter. I'd love to go with her and wander through the deserted Smithsonian and maybe catch a nearby battlefield or two, but again, without some massive injection of funds, it's not going to happen. ***SIGH*** Maybe I should get a job.

I hadn't read the other comments when I wrote that, but suffice to say that whatever you figure out, I shall comply with and try to assist!
