I'm tired tonight. Today has been a big day in the office, moving books around, stacking up boxes, going to the dump. End result was a large expanse of actual carpet between my Parliamentary Library bookshelf and the wall. Next step tomorrow is to move the bookshelf up against the wall (thereby making half the bookshelves useless) clear a space on the other side and move the new lounge suite down from the spare room, freeing up space there.

Then off to the airport to collect my sister, who is to sleep in the spare room until Saturday, when she can move into our room while we're away. She'll have the house to herself while we're all off in Hong Kong, and then can play merry aunt to the kids when they return.

Cleaning up the office has been one of those "put-off-till-tomorrow" jobs I've been putting off for years now. I really should be more organised so I don't get myself into this position where it's such a mammoth job. Far easier to go read a book, make a cuppa, chat on LJ...

I also had to cook dinner, not that it was much of a chore, what with the protein part in chicken mince and corn rissoles prepared yesterday. Asparagus and carrot, and my big contribution was the sauce - onion and garlic softened in olive oil, then dump a pile of moonched up tomato and capsicum on top and bubble it down to a nice consistency. Tabasco and Worcestorshire for taste. Mmmmm.

More work on my travel journal from last year. I've written up Istanbul and stuck in the photographs. At this rate I'll be off travelling again before I've got to Charleston. But it's a lot of fun reviewing some of those wonderful times.

There is a good reason why the proverb goes "Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today." ;-)

Ah, but there is still the procrastinator's proverb: "Never put off till tomorrow what you can put off until next week."

When I grow up, I want to be like you!

You've seen my casual approach to packing and unpacking stuff. I must horrify you sometimes.

In London, you and Kerri may exchange Straw-headed Peter stories.

I'm certainly not going to do any such thing.

The bookshelf sounds exactly like the sort of thing I need. I am going to need to do a major reshuffle and tidy-up soon if I want to maintain a clear path in the "office"/spare room.

And now I don't feel so bad about my travel journal. I keep a rough journal when I'm travelling and incorporate it into my "main" journal when I get home. I have only just finished updating my Europe trip in August of last year. Now I have six months of life to add on to the end of that!
