I hope the "exciting things" will someday include the features that I've been requesting for ... what? 5 years now without a response?
I can honestly say that the inability to edit release zone "shortcuts" has prevented me from making release notes in months, possibly years.
I guess that, since it isn't a related to bookrings and trading, it will never happen. The only improvements I ever see are things that have nothing to do with wild releasing, which seems to just be a thing of the past at bookcrossing.
They make it easier and easier to trade and maintain bookrings while making it harder to wild release. I guess I'm just nostalgic for the days when bookcrossing started and wild releasing was the priority.
Cliff tested a release zone shortcut fix a while back which was pretty handy, but it never got implemented. I'm hoping, with Cliff now working for BookCrossing full time, that a lot of these "on-hold" wishes will be implemented.
Well, I hope so. That survey they created (whoever "they" may be) was a big disappointment, no only because of the problems with functionality but also because the features they plan to implement have nothing to do with what I'd always regarded as the primary purpose of bookcrossing. Ah, well.
Patience! New servers are coming, and then work can begin on the bugs. From what I understand, this was just a little something that could be done until the "real" work can happen. (and from what I undersatnd, it'll be an overhaul to get rid of all the patches and bandaids that are holding the site together. Now more candle wax and string to make fixes, but real code and IT type stuff. Or so I'm told.)
And there are features planned for helping those of us who aren't traders, but maybe a perk or two for the traders as well.
