Just returned from my afternoon walk. Thought I'd be able to hand the dog off to my son coming home from school, but he was late and so I walked her all the way around the block. Coming up Constitution Avenue, I had a pleasant surprise - a folock of maybe fifty black cockatoos settling in the trees opposite Anzac Park East and making a song and dance about it. These great hammer-headed birds have been increasingly visible in groups of three or four, presumably coming down from the mountains to feed in the suburbs, and every time I see some I admire them. Much more refined than their raucous sulphur-crested cousins

My MOM 2004 pullover arrived today Very pleased with it, the price, and the swift delivery. Not that I'm a great user of the product, but it's a welcome garment at this time of year.

On another Microsoft note, I was up early this morning. Bigpond wasn't responding to mail or Usenet or web, so I felt a bit cut off. Decided to use the time to install XP SP2 on my server, and it chugged along quite happily while I finished off entering the radar stations and put in their area coverage strengths. Unfortunately, when it had completed installation, I couldn't get the Windows Firewall to come up nor the Internet Connection Sharing. Looked at a few suggestions on the net, but nothing worked, so I uninstalled it. Odd, because it works just fine on my workstation.

Roast lamb last night, which turned out to be more mutton than lamb and almost impossible to eat, so strong the flavour. The family will revolt if fed a meal made from it, but the animals are keen. Using up the last of the roast beef in a stew/soup done in the slow cooker, along with some ploughman four-seed bread, which should have a bit more texture than the rather bland white version we had last time.
