Actually, I've been very slack today.

As Kerri went out the door we agreed on shepherd's pie for dinner - we usually work out something based on what's in the freezer and I pull it out to defrost, which can sometimes be problematical in the middle of winter.

Got the boy to drive to college. He's not keen at 0900 when the roads are full of manic drivers, but on Wednesday he starts at 1000 and things are a bit quieter.

Stopped at the supermarket in town and bought some stuff. Squeezed in to my favorite free park, which is pretty rare nowadays. They are building a shopping centre on the carparks and consequently my secret little carpark has been discovered by the displaced masses. In fact they are building a shitload of stuff in Civic and have grand plans for more. The idea is for the developers to make a lot of money, the government gets more rates and taxes, little independent retailers go bankrupt and we find parking harder and harder.

And all the green bits get built up. It really sucks. We'll be like every other capital city soon.

Finished off "The Wee Free Men" yesterday, and now I'm on "Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency". Great book.

Didn't do a run today (which means I need do two tomorrow) and stuck "The Great Race" into the new DVD player to see if it recognises the NTSC format. It does, and I watched some of the good bits. Great movie. Played camp and corny.

Shepherds Pie. Righto. Got out the utensils, splashed a bit of olive oil in the pan, reached down for the food chopper upper and found the sharp bit of the blade with my index finger. My right index finger. I coarsely chopped the onions with my left hand - my right finger beginning to ooze blood. Well, stream blood, actually. Just then Kerri walked in the door, and instead of sitting down and relaxing while I cooked dinner, she had to do it while I dabbed at my finger with a hanky and stirred the tucker with my left hand. Felt really bad about that, but she took it in good grace. "The onions will give you an excuse to cry," she said.

It eventually stopped bleeding and I was able to get a bandaid on it.

Oh well, dinner turned out fine. At least I'd been able to get the spuds chopped up and boiling nicely before the finger slicing bit. Kerri's mix (with grated carrot and zucchini) was better than my intended mix.

Oh yeah. Latest headline news from the Coliseum: "Christians Consumed by Pride"

Ah, that's "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!" Great movie. TGR is a race in old cars (though of course they weren't old then) between New York and Paris in 1910 (or thereabouts).

Oh yes! I get those two confused a lot- both good movies. I think I like TGR better.
