Another quick update
Apr. 27th, 2006 05:21 pmThanks, Cari!
I'm now in the recommended Hokondo Beachside Hostel in Waikiki. It's noisy, but well located and comfortable.
For Australians, think Surfers Paradise with Stars and Stripes and you have it exactly. That mix of luxury and tacky with mountains behind and golden sand ahead.
The hostel is a Sixties motel converted without going gto too much expense. It's pretty tacky, but hard to beat the price.
I got in from SF about noonish and discovered a freebie wireless network. A little later, my room-mate breezed in and announced that he was going out for a beer just when I wanted to go get some groceries. Coffee and milk to fuel my writing.
He had been dreaming of a beer at this particular bar all the way over on the five hour flight, and when we got there, I understood why. Dukes at Waikiki is fabulous. Really, I've got to pinch myslef. A great bar right on the beach with Diamond Head beyond. A dream come true. With cold beer and hot chips. I told my roomie about white pointers and perving on the shielas, but after three beers I decided I'd best go if I was to get any work done.
I'll take him back Friday and return the shout.
Pearl Harbour tomorrow - I've got to leave early to avoid the queues.

Date: 2006-04-28 04:36 am (UTC)I've had a wonderful time. But I can travel the whole world over and not catch a glimpse of your sweet smile, CB, so there's that worth coming home to!

Date: 2006-04-28 03:13 pm (UTC)Your smile is just as sweet, but alas, you don't pop into our monthly meetings. Starbucks in Garema Place in Civic in Canberre, if you feel like fixing this...
