A bit of fluff

skyringIf we're telling stories, here's one from my father-in-law.
It was their fiftieth wedding anniversary and the business tycoon, in a quiet moment during the celebrations, leaned over to his mature but still beautiful wife and said, "It's been fifty wonderful years, darling, but I've sometimes wondered if you've been faithful to me all this time?"
She looked back at him and replied, "Dearest, I have to confess that I've been unfaithful to you three times, but it was all for the love of you."
"How can this be so?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Well, remember when you were just starting out in business and you needed a big loan and the bank wouldn't approve it? After I saw the bank manager, he came around and personally gave you the money."
"I owe my business success to you," he looked at her with shining eyes. "I forgive you."
"And do you remember when you had the heart attack and the hospital said that they couldn't do the operation?"
"Yes," he replied, "they suddenly found they could do it after all, and the chief of surgery operated on me personally as a matter of urgency. So I owe you my life as well!"
"That was the second time." she said. "And darling, do you remember when you had your heart set on being the president of the golf club and you were thirty-seven votes short?"
