Nude BookCrossers

Yoko got me thinking, with her tales of nude cabbies and their fund-raising calendars. Gingerbread men aside. And I tried out a few poses while having a shower this morning.

"I could do this," I thought, as I admired my glistening body.

But what to use to shield my masculinity? My first thought was for a strategic piece of shrubbery, but I'm planning on doing this outside, and getting everything just right might take a bit of setting up, especially as I plan on doing it myself on timer, and rushing back to the camera to check my pose isn't an option. Then I thought about my BookCrossing totebag. But that might be overkill.

And then later on, I thought of a new wrinkle. I have so got to do this!!

Of course, it will have to wait until I get home. And there's a dark night. And I find the right location.

Caught up with my email this morning. I somehow managed to get three copies of a 4.5 Meg email containing grainy pictures of Mum's bathroom renovation.

Dunno what's stopping me from logging on to eBay, my bank accounts, and everything that requires a password dialogue. Pain in the bum.

But I managed to skim through LJ, refraining from clicking anything that looked like it might be more than 500 bytes.

DS and FIL came back from fishing with a handful of whiting, which they cooked up for breakfast with every ounce of pride they could cram in.

Later on I took the car in for an air conditioning service. It's stopped working whenever the temperature gets above freezing, and Kerri isn't happy about this. An hour or so, and I spent most of that catching up at an internet cafe with working password dialogues.

"Bad news," crooned the aircon guy over the phone. "We'll need your car for two weeks, and you may have to sell your house."

Well, not quite. We'll be able to keep the house, and they only want the car overnight. But we'll be able to keep our cool.

Another walk along the beach this evening, same route as before except we took DD with us, and we all scampered and skipped along the sands. Such fun, just the four of us together!

"But what to use to shield my masculinity?"

I was thinking maybe a coffee table book--something like the "Seven Wonders of Australia", or "Undiscovered Australia". Are there such books? ;) Shame on you, all this talk and no photos under the cut.

Good luck to you with the A/C!

I have an A3

Sized book on Australian Landscapes. I can loan this to you. Your modesty will be preserved.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, but I have just the right thing in mind!

OK but keep it in mind :)

You start the strangest threads....

Blame Yoko for getting me started!

Seriously, out of quarter of a million BookCrossers, there must be eleven more willing to be pictured in the act of releasing.

I'm sure that there's enough of a market to make BookCrossing a few dollars. If nothing else, I can make up a calendar and sell it through Lulu.com.

Better yet, get someone who has an inkling of design to produce it...

I'm serious, if you and SwissToni do it, I will do it.

I need a proper photographer though, so I come out looking more like Madonna than a mad old bag lady, LOL!

Wouldn't you need an improper photographer for nude shots?

Ask Semioticghost. She's marvellous.

Are we talking nude releasing here? Or just releasing?

I'm not sure I want to share my wobbly bits with the world, but I'd be up for a clothed biker wild relase.

Hey, I'll pose for the calendar :)

Yikes! Firstly, I must ask this...Has the antipodian summer completely cooked your brain, mate? Seriously, if you post this picture you are planning, you will create a truly hideous situation in which the vocal women of this lively online community will expect the rest of us to follow suit (so to speak). I, for one, am quite unprepared to do so! Please (please, Please, PLEASE!) reconsider!

Secondly, are you channeling Bill Bryson? Your statement about them needing the car for two weeks and needing to sell the house sounded exactly like a line from one of his books. :op

Yeah

[identity profile] woosang.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought that too. It was funny tho, before my brekkie, I had a smile :)

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
With BookCrossing 85% female, I reckon I only need one other bloke and the sheilas can make up March through December.

Pete, which his favorite movie was always "The Hunt for Miss October"

I baggs

[identity profile] woosang.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
MAY!! May for me :)

[identity profile] jfroebe.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I volunteer ... don't tell [livejournal.com profile] tzurriz ;-)

[identity profile] tzurriz.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.

Dear, I can't afford to buy up every copy. Well, I guess that depends on the print run . . .

[identity profile] yokospungeon.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
God, Tzurriz, it's got to be at least 6 run out on Pete's printer, ROFLMAO!

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you could make it a two-shot for February and Valentines Day?

[identity profile] antof9.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
And here I was, thinking of all the men on my friends list. . . .

"Vocal" women? What, who? Us? *bats eyes*

*splllrrrt*

Bwahahahahahahhahhhaaaaa!

[identity profile] danadoodle.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
i have tried artful/modest on a self-timer and the damn thing never comes out right (or less than modest). one needs to have a shooter. :P

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You're volunteering from a safe distance...?

I'll try it by myself first. I've just thought of a location where I can do it during daylight hours and have a great background.

[identity profile] danadoodle.livejournal.com 2005-12-23 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
i don't know if i could keep my hands steady at the sight of you! just the thought of skyring checking out his glistening body is almost too much to bare! ;)

[identity profile] greedyreader.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not utilize a montage of release notes?

[identity profile] yokospungeon.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Some carefully placed 'I'm free -pick me up!' yellow sticky notes?

?:)

[identity profile] greedyreader.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
with a "please release me" message.

:::clapping hands, greedily:::

[identity profile] o-jenny.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking a Bookcrossing bookmark. Or two taped together, if necessary.

Jenny, always looking on the bright side

[identity profile] martip.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yoko, you could always mail him some gingerbread men (oversized, of course). ;-)

Um

[identity profile] woosang.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
This could upset Mrs Skyring who may not think her husband was free....Possibly not. How about a few hundred rolls of little BC stickers??? That would be artistic

Re: Um

[identity profile] whytraven.livejournal.com 2005-12-23 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
YEah, but imagine taking them all off! Owwwww!

I'm on the wrong computer for friending you back woosang, but as soon as I get my laptop back I will do so :-)

Re: Um

[identity profile] woosang.livejournal.com 2005-12-24 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
You know Until you mentioned that I hadn't even given it a thought.(Yes Really!Silly me eh?) BUT since you have pointed this out and men seem to have more hair than women, maybe for Skyring it is not such a good idea :( Back to the drawing board!!

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Good-oh!

That's your photograph sorted, then!

[identity profile] yokospungeon.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You want to send me about thirty books then, LOL! I've put on weight.

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
All the more to love, dearest!

[identity profile] whytraven.livejournal.com 2005-12-23 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Not as much as me, sweetie ;-)

Sorry

[identity profile] wombles.livejournal.com 2005-12-22 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope my photo on LJ didn't take all your bytes!

[identity profile] silvanime.livejournal.com 2005-12-23 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my. The mind absolutely boggles at the thought...

Glad to hear you're having such a wonderful time though, car troubles aside.

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2005-12-23 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Speaking as someone who used to have an all-over tan (the pride of the regiment, at least in the male showers) from hanging out at nude beaches, I'm not as self-conscious about nudity as I might be.

Besides, it wasn't that long ago I was doing life class, albeit not as a model.

I'll have to check with BX Support, but this could be a great fundraiser for 2007. Not that I think that my pudgy middle-aged body will sell too many copies, but with Yoko, jfroebe and Woosang all putting their hands up to be included, we could be on a winner.
