LJ seems to be fixing the problem of missing journal comment notifications by re-sending previous notices. I've had a few messages from a week or two back, both of which I've seen before.
Then again, relocating a live and heavily-used site from one location to another can't be easy.

Date: 2005-12-06 11:12 pm (UTC)But if you are moving a whopping great online database from one place to another, it stands to reason that bits are going to fall out of it along the way, and the LJ goat must have come along after, collected up all the bits that dropped off, thought they were new bits and sent them off again. Couldn't hurt, I suppose.
It's what I'd do, anyway. If I was moving three states away, I'd want the whole world to share in the adventure and excitement, especially if none of it was their fault.
Pete, not sure if OrAgain counts twice

Date: 2005-12-06 11:52 pm (UTC)"Since our data center move last month, we've been tackling a number of different issues with regard to email. When we changed the IP address for livejournal.com we were put on a number of popular spam blacklists as a potential spammer. This caused not only email from us to be blocked, but also more stress on our mail systems trying to resend all the blocked email. When our mail servers become slower to respond, we queue mail in databases to be sent at a later date. Once these queues became too large, however, our system to retrieve the mail and send at a later date also became too slow."
