Did I mention the mouse living in our oven? I see it poking its head up through the hotplates every now and then, and sometimes I surprise it on the benchtop on a foraging expedition. Once it was far enough away from home that I was able to slide my hand over the top of its "front door".

Clever little rodent ran over my hand and ducked down the next hotplate coil.

Even the dog has given up on waiting for it to leap out and be eaten.

I heard DD give a shriek this afternoon and there she was in the kitchen. she'd caught it a long way from home and was blocking its way back. I quickly slid pots and pan lids over all the openings back into the stove. and then joined DD in trapping the little bugger.

And for those who remember the mouse in the dishwasher, it might come as no surprise to hear that this one had run into the toaster. There's a little opening underneath and it had climbed up inside and was waiting for us to go away.

Hah! Fat chance. We picked up the toaster and took it outside, then trid to find a way to winkle it out. It wasn't keen on coming out by itself and I didn't want to shake it out or poke it out with a stick or something, so eventually we gave up and left it to escape on its ownsome. Which it did, when I checked several hours later.

Whatever. I knew it couldn't get back into the house and up onto the benchtop by itself.

Problem solved.

Until I walked into the kitchen and my jaw fell open and hung in mid-air. I could see a little grey body and tail disappearing down the hotplate coil.

There was more than one mouse!

And you know what that means.

I can't picture Skyring chasing the mouse around the house with a gun and blowing nig holes in the floor
! That was a crafty mouse in Mouse Hunt. My kids get hysterical watching that movie.

On a serious note, one Christmas Eve we had a mousie stuck in the electricals of our oven, not pretty!
Put the Cat in the oven :) (*wombles laughs wickedly*)

As a college student, my brother-in-law had a mouse in the house once.

Picture 3 big strapping young Nebraska boys, all blond hair, blue eyes, the shortest one at 6'1".

Now, picture said boys drunk, and noticing a mouse in the house.

One grabbed a short sword (don't ask), one a toilet plunger, and the third a cinder block.

They proceded to attempt to kill or catch this mouse by variously chasing it around the housem leaping over furniture, screaming war cries, and lying in wait ala Willey Cayote.

This took hours.

Needless to saw, the mouse won.
