That was the headline this morning, along with a huge headline of Princess Mary.

Got to be the ultimate modern-day fairytale. Aussie girl meets and marries prince, gives birth to future king. Her home town of Taroona south of Hobart is popping with excitement!

Every paper in Australia had the same lead item.

Yesterday we hooked up with Kerri's sister and looked in on the National Gallery's "Moist" exhibition of Australian watercolours. One of the curators guided us around and spoke in her introductory remarks of the Taoist aspects of watercolour, which struck me as particularly insightful, as the Tao has water flowing all the way through it. At one point she noted that the artist had set the pigment flowing and there was a palmprint where he had slowed it down on the Japanese paper support.

She was entirely too keen on Norman Lindsay's abilities as a watercolour artist. I like his stuff, but I feel his line drawings are his best work and his watercolours too fussy. A couple of Arthur Streeton's paintings and a pleasant surprise in a John Brack "pink dancers" work that echoes a much larger oil in the main gallery.

Had a quick look around the rest of the Australian collection on our way out. I could spend hours here. And have in the past.

Released a book at the gallery. As yet unfound, though it's in a good location where I've had previous successes.

Today was mowing the lawn day. Twice in two weeks - it's all that rain we had.

Sounds like some nice exhibits. Do you feel more cultured now? I sometimes go home after an outing to a museum or some art thing expecting a bit of it to have rubbed off, but I always remain a Philistine. ;-)

I notice that the Ya-Ya sisters seem to like Canberra.
