Look at the Caps!
I should really look at more films with an open mind. Here is a comment by a friend of mine about War of the Worlds.
What really surprised me me was to discover that Spielberg had used the film
for a symbolic retelling of the story of the 2004 American League Championship
Series (the motif is made explicit in the father-son game of catch), where
inhuman, machinelike, bloodsucking monsters emerge from New York to crush all
before them until seemingly on the edge of inevitable, complete victory they
falter, stumble, and collapse, leaving Boston to emerge victorious. This
multilayered approach added much to the emotional impact of the film.
Obvious in hindsight.
