Playing with Wikipedia
Jun. 9th, 2005 08:29 pmI've mentioned Wikipedia before, and it's a great deal of fun. It's billed as the encyclopaedia that anyone can edit, and of course many of them do, from bored high school students to drunken university professors.
Seriously, there's a lot of good stuff in there, but it's hard to depend upon details. I've been clicking on the "Recent Changes" list and usually there's an article on a topic I know a little bit about, and usually I can find something to add, modify or delete. I like fixing mistakes. And sometimes they's a spelling or grammer mistake I can whomp into shape.
An odd little world, with some people who care very much and have far too much time to waste.
I can't sit on this one any longer. This is a result of crossed wires of truly epic proportions. It seems that someone registered a book, a book of darkly erotic horror, by entering the ISBN and by some weird coincidence they got a match with a book already registered. They then proceeded to enter the ISBN again and hit the "Look up Details" button. And this is the result.
We've got no easy way to find out what the book used to be - something about chickens and frogs, suitable for little boys, apparently. Oh well, perhaps this is a bedtime book of another sort. Please, nobody tell Sonora!
Did my run this afternoon. Got it down to an optimum route. Juggled frequent flyer points in my head and dreamed of hopping aboard a big metal bird. Worked out that the quickest way to travel is probably to earn the money to do it!
Changed a name (again) in my second chapter. I'm glad everyone is being patient - this is a fairly crucial chapter and at the moment it's pretty sappy.

I took a look at wikipedia. It's tempting to add a record for historical markers, and another for hysterical ones.
