Getting there

Well, I won't say that I'm ready to go, because I'm not, but I'm on track. I've got my British adaptor plug so I can recharge my laptop, I've got one of those concealed wallets so I can carry my passport and things around, I've got a hundred pounds in British notes, and some US money left over from January. The clothes I'll take with me are washed and folded.

I still need to pick up my boots, which are being resoled, and buy a combination padlock for the hostel. Apart from that just about everything else is a matter of making journal entries and registering books. And then throwing them all into my bags and going to the airport. I might also download the Bigpond roaming software so I'm not so dependent on internet cafes and stuff.

Gotta scan and print out a bunch of stuff too. Copies of my tickets, passport pages, insurance policy...

Funny you should mention that! I've just this minute stowed all the Tim-Tams in a protected layer in my big bag. I packed the most fragile in a cardboard box, and the rest are immediately above the hard bottom of the bag. I've packed clothes above them. Most of the books will go in the totebag, which is going to be stuffed solid.

That's OK. I'll use the same adaptor I used in Washington. I've just checked that I got it. I actually took it to New Zealand in my backpack, because it was small and floating around in the rubble at the bottom of one compartment.

Are yu flying into Heathrow tomorrow, and if yes, when are you getting there? I ask because I will be there, could be there early, need to be there for 6pm-ish. I thought I'd ask, on the offchance...

Just so you have a safe trip and keep in touch- electronically or any way you can. Did I tell you that there is a Tim-Tam adoption agency here in South Carolina. They make sure that all tim tams entering the state are well placed! (burp)
