Cuppity
OK. Just got back from the camping shop with two purchases. First is a plastic insulated mug in plastic. Bright Bookcrossing yellow. I may well decorate it with a little running book.
Holds a decent amount of tea or coffee and is comfortable to drink from. It's also sort of short and wide rather than tall and elegant (and easily knocked over). This thing won't break, nor does it weigh much. It comes with a builtin coffee plunger, which is a brilliant design - you'd hardly know it was there at all, and it makes a good cup of coffee.
Second purchase wasn't a mug, but an immersion element that boils a single cup at a time. Takes about three minutes on 240 volts, longer on 110v. I've just tested the whole set up, and apart from taking about five minutes what with boiling and brewing and plunging, it works well.

:)
But we do make tea and coffee in the UK, you know :P
Looking forward to meeting you - hurrah!
Re: :)
But I'll be spending a lot of time sitting down with my laptop writing, I like having a cuppa beside me, and if there's no communal kitchen at my hostel, I'm not keen on spending pound after pound on bought cups.
Besides, I often work long into the night or early morning, and if there's a cafe in the hostel it probably closes down then.
Nothing like a hot cuppa (tea or java) to help with creativity!
And don't even ask how envious I am at the thought that you and yoko (and some of my other favorite BCers) will get to meet. Please raise a glass for me (though it can definitely be of the stronger stuff!) and take a photo or two.

And my little yellow mug is a blank canvas. I shall have to get out the acrylics and see what can be done!

Can't wait to see you all, even if it is via Internet!
