Cute brutes
DD runs a child care centre, and seems to have an impossible amount of fun with the children. She showed me a video of kids running around with what I can only describe as ribbons with handles. They run around and around, brightly-coloured ribbons streaming in the wind.
Around and around they go, shrieking with happiness.
"And then it was nap time," DD went on, "and the staff had a good long tea break."
In other news, they were running the kids through some tests, to see how many knew how old they were, their full name, names of siblings etc.
"How old are you, Jack?"
"Four!"
"And what's your name?"
"Jack!"
"Anything more?"
"No, just Jack."
"Okay, well, do people sometimes call you another name after Jack...?"
"Oh. Ummmmm. Darling."
And rightly so!

Reminds me of what a student of mine said once:
"Honey"
I wrote a note home assuring J's dad that I made sure J now knew his dad's real name wasn't Honey.
I actually keep a notebook of such gems. I call it *Kidisms*
