Balance, light and dark, up and down etc.

So I'm home after a fantastic trip overseas. This doesn't mean that real life is un-fantastic. Just different.

The car Kerri bought is a Golf VI 90 TSI with a comfort pack. It is EXACTLY what I would have bought. I got to drive it last night, carefully staying on the right side of the road, and it's a very pleasant drive. A leeetle bigger than the Getz and the Mazda 2, but four doors instead of two, making it a better family car than the others. We put all four of us in last night when we went out to dinner at Mecca Bah for contemporary Turkish. Yum. I never would have thought, as a kid, that I would bolt down all my spinach and think about mopping the plate. So good!

Lots of buttons to push and functions to play with. Working through the owner's manual now, and will work out all the bits. It's more sophisticated than the other cars, which suits me fine - the cab I drive has all sorts of goodies, like cruise control, ipod input, reversing sensors, auto wipers, dual climate control, and this car has all that fruit and more. It's a car that might get driven to Sydney or Melbourne, and driving all that way on a freeway without cruise control would drive me round the bend. Literally.

Speaking of the cab, the owner crashed our new cab driving a Saturday night shift. No injuries, but the car may well be a write-off or at least facing a long repair job. The problem is the A-pillars creating a huge blindspot, especially for traffic coming up on the left, and that's what happened. He waited for traffic to clear the intersection, moved forward and the oncoming car in the blindspot stayed there until impact.

Not sure what's going to happen, but most likely we'll be driving some sort of replacement cab for a bit.

This may give me time to write, time to organise, time to miss out on the Melbourne Cup supershift.

All in all, it's so good to be home. My holiday was wonderful, but so is my regular everyday life.

Welcome home to your delightful wife.
Was she pleased that you approved her choice of car?
Or did she simply smile and think (or say) "Of Course"!
And when is the next BC jaunt?

I repeated while I was away that whatever made her happy would make me happy. And it is so. It's a lovely car.

Next BookCrossing trip is Amsterdam with Kerri. Tentative, but looking like Osaka/Kyoto, Amsterdam, Chicago and San Francisco in a RTW itinerary.

After that, unsure, but looking very carefully at Boston in August. Sydney in October is a no-brainer.
