Home sweet home

skyringWe're home. Last night, and basically fell into bed.
Looked through the mail last night and found the postcards I'd sent to Kerri. Tokyo aside, each had sore feet as a major theme! I'm going to put them into my Levenger travel journal as vital souvenirs.
The toe still hurts. I bent it this morning accidentally, and the pain made me gasp. I'm looking forward to giving it a rest - after two weeks of walk walking walkinging around the world, and another week of driving a manual with a solid clutch, I'm going to take it easy on my toes.
Kerri went to the markt this morning, returning home with a special treat - a bottle of St Helier Pear Cider from Jersey. Will enjoy it later tonight.
We did a bunch of things in Rockhampton. Beach, Botanic Gardens, champagne and prawn night. All good fun. Best part was seeing my father again - I've seen more of him in the past few days than in the previous thirty years.
It was cold in Rocky, at least in the mornings. The traditional Queenslander house we staid in wasn't set up for winter. Very little insulation, no curtains or blinds, just a layer of floorboards separating us from the open space underneath. No thermal mass at all.
On the upside, the hilltop location gave delightful views of the bushclad hillsides surrounding us. There were birds and kangaroos all around, and even the distant view of highway and railway added interest.
Now home, as I say. Beginning a cold, my toe hurts, and I'm battling an out of whack body clock. Still, it's good to sleep in my own bed and not have to wake up wondering if I have an early flight.
