Kerri and Jess
Kerri and Jess,
originally uploaded by skyring.
When we decided to replace the untimely late Claude, our beautiful brown Burmese boy, we wanted to get two kittens so that they would be company for each other and friends for life.

Littermates possibly, but Kerri wanted a Burmilla and I lusted after a Bombay, so we got them at different times from two different breeders.

Misty the silver Burmilla first. She's gorgeous, but very active and vocal. Fun and kittenish, rather trying if you have her all to yourself for a day as Kerri did yesterday when we went off to get the Bombay.

DD, DS and I hit the road to Muswellbrook in the Hunter valley yesterday, about a six hour drive from Canberra, with a little extra for meal and fuel stops.

Arrived at the breeder's house about one in the arvo, and she brought out the Bombay. A girl kitten, but that's OK. Very dark brown, almost black, and the most beautiful copper eyes, which the photograph barely begins to show. She's a black pocket panther, very slinky.

Shy and silent. DD sat in the back with her (in the cat cage) and sroked her through the door. Misty escaped from the basket when she was fetched from Campbelltown a month back and ran around the car, yelling and boisterous, but Jessica was very quiet.

Jessica is the breeder's name for her, and we'll almost certainly find another one, suggestions invited.

We introduced the two kittens to each other under strict supervision. No hissing and spitting, which is good, but we're taking it easy, and Jess has spent the night in the kitchen alone with her travel blanket and cage. She's claustrophiliac, very much the opposite in almost every way to Misty.

More news and pictures as we progress.

She's gorgeous! And yes, 'Jessica' is far too provincial for such a majestic creature. She's going to grow up to be a goddess, and should be named accordingly.

I think Jess is lovely, but then I'm biased!

She's dotey, but so is Misty, I tend to have a soft spot for the boisterous, looper ones!

She sounds lovely. If you hadn't already named Misty, you could call them Silver and Copper. How about Brown Velvet, Velvet for short?

My late, great Jessie was not a *Jessica*, though. Hehe. And she was definitely more impish than regal, even at the end of her 17 years.

They are both beautiful; hard to suppress the *awwww*...
