Well, I couldn't resist it.

I've been needing/wanting an external hard drive for a while. An easy and safe back up for all those images, mails and documents I accumulate.

I bit the bullet today and bought a little ripper, a 250 gb external drive that fits in a shirt pocket and is powered by the USB cable. That's right, no AC adapters required. I am amazed that something can be so small and powerful. The clincher was the lack of dongles, making this drive perfect for travel.

I also got a copy of Taxi Driver, possibly the ultimate cabbie movie. Must watch it and see how a true professional driver operates.

This was after attending the local NaNoWriMo's pre-frenzy get together. I can't say I had a great time, coming off my Saturday night fifteen hour shift, not to mention having ears full of wax, which made me all but deaf. Still, it's exciting to get together with other high-speed novelists.

My approach this year is based on "Manly Books", my 2004 blog-based NaNo. I cranked that out in ten days, and it worked because I stuck with blog and BookCrossing entries, with which I am comfortable. This time, I'm going to write a murder mystery based on a Canberra night taxi driver, and I won't have to worry too much about research - I'll just write about me, a somewhat seedier and single me. The aim is quantity, not quality, but I've been reading "How to write mystery novels" handbooks so as to get a few clues before plunging in.

Don't expect intricate plotting.

We looked at buying a small external hard drive for travelling but in the end The Beloved chose a largerSeagate complete with AC. The clincher was the price difference at that time. I am sure that you will find it beneficial.

I hope you get the excess wax thing fixed. It is awful having your hearing affected by something like that.

Hugs

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me?

Loneliness has followed me my whole life. Everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There's no escape. I'm God's lonely man.... The days can go on with regularity over and over, one day indistinguishable from the next. A long continuous chain....

I'm glad you're backed up now.
You'll probably have fun writing a murder mystery, you're not the victim, are you?

"a somewhat seedier and single me"
LOL! So is the seedier you going to be the murderer or the sleuth?

Possibly both...
