I understand that wireless networks are becoming ever more prevalent, so it's increasingly easy. I'll have to check out "warchalking" sites to see if there are hot-spots around I can exploit. I understand it's becoming common for cafes to have them set up.
I first heard of these wireless cards for laptops about three years back, and now they are common and cheap-ish. About a hundred Aussie dollars retail - I was lucky I got a router-card bundle on special.
I saw a demonstration last week of a fellow who was able to blog from his palmtop in the middle of a big convention hall. And upload photographs - the blessed thing was a mobile phone and camera as well!
Installation of the card was simplicity itself. I loaded up the drivers from CD - just a matter of clicking [NEXT] on a wizard, then stuck in the card and it immediately worked!
