Another day off, that is. Sunday was mainly sleeping. I drove until dawn, came home and wrote my "near death" post, which kept me up until late morning. I wanted it done so I could send it into the paper in case the chase was a big story. Well, it wasn't. I guess that means nobody was injured, which is a good thing. Still, it was a big deal for me.

Monday, Kerri had to go off to Sydney. DD was to drive her in and get a bit of time in the Qantas Club with Kerri before the plane left. Of course, when the alarm went off ot 0545, DD decided that a warm bed and a cat to snuggle up with was a more attractive proposition than driving through the cold dawn.

So I got called up. I warmed up Tweety car and headed off to the airport.

"This is a fun car to drive," I told Kerri, "but I wouldn't want to spend a long time in it."

"You always say that," she responded, "after about a kilometre. It's only fun for a kilometre, is that it?"

Well, yes and no. It is fun to drive, but the seat is too high and won't go back far enough for my long legs. The engine noise is a little buzzy for my taste, and I'm not as familiar with the controls as I could be.

I dropped Kerri off and headed home. Bludged around all day, getting in a lot of sleep. I really should go into town, deposit the week's takings, get my hair cut, maybe buy some comfy black shoes to go with my uniform.

But I've got a cold coming on and it's oh so easy to curl up with a book and doze.

DD and I were going to go out to the airport, get in a little QC time, and meet Kerri. But she got an early flight and before I knew it, she was calling from the airport to be collected.

So I hopped into Tweety again and buzzed off. Collected her from our usual rendezvous - kerbside pickups are not allowed at the terminal, so she walked around the side to the hire car shelter. Looked at the long queue of passengers and the sparcity of cabs outside the terminal - an opportunity if only I'd had the cab.

But Monday's my night off, and after dinner and Mythbusters, I'm ready for bed. I'll do all that other stuff tomorrow.

That near death story of yours was frightening - so pleased that you were able to get some rest today.
Money is not everything (at least that is what I'm told) and you do need the occasional day off.
