Live from the Scene
May. 10th, 2007 11:51 amMy wife appearred through my nightshift slumbers as she prepared for work.
"That bobcat isn't disturbing you, is it?"
"Bobcat? What bobcat?"
"The one ripping up our driveway."
Ohhh, that bobcat. No, i hadn't heard it, but now that I thought on it, i could hear its whirring and chugging, thankfully on the other side of the house.
Now, some hours later, I'm awake (more or less) and they are pouring concrete. Decades of tree roots and torrential deluges running down its slope have left it crumbling, uneven and a little too much of a trip hazard for my taste, especially with milk delivery folk running along it in the dark.
So we've gotten it ripped up and replaced, with proper steel mesh as an underlay and a good solid bed of concrete over.
That should last for another few decades.
Now, I'll just get back to sleep so I can do my nightshift and set about paying for it...
