Last night I plucked up my courage and raised the question of Charleston with Kerri. And she said Yes!

So I'll be attending this year's convention!

And very likely Kerri will as well. Probably the kids won't. All tied up with school holidays and work, but I'm pretty sure that Kerri will be able to make it.

If so, we'll be spending time in Paris, Guernsey, Washington and Charleston. I've been yearning to walk with Kerri through the places I discovered last year, particularly St Malo. It's lovely to find new and interesting destinations, far better to have someone's hand to hold and a shared joy.

More details later. Itinerary quite up in the air, but it may be that we go the "wrong way" around, that is, from west to east.

And yes, ResQgeek, I or we would love to stay with you in Washington and drive down to Charleston.

Yay! I will get to meet you! Or, I should say, "we" will get to meet you since Reggie is coming along with me. :)

A big selling point was that Kerri would be able to meet all of my LJ/BC friends. Well, not all of them, but a lot of them in one place. How do I deal with a bliss overload?

Tell Reggie to look the other way when I meet you, because I'm gonna wrap my arms around you and not let go!

Woohoo! See you there! Guernsey's not really on the way, but it's a lovely little island!

I'm happy for both of you.
At the same time I feel more and more jealous. Almost everyone I care about is going. Just not me. :-(

Ahhh, Charleston! Not quite London, but let me say that she who is tired of Charleston is tired of life.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you for sending my cap back! And the chocoloonies. And the book. And the "Canada" cap. I'll wear it in my taxi next Canada Day.

Well, you have a good time. I'm sure you will. It sounds like a wonderful trip. Please don't even give a THOUGHT to those of us who cannot make it. Not even a smidgen of a thought that we'll be reading all your "wonderful time" posts from the convention and crying. Don't even think about it.

Seriously though--it does sound like a wonderful trip! Enjoy and safe travel! *Hugs*

The fact that you're making plans for Charleston makes me realize that it's been nearly a year--and nearly two (Ok that's a bit more of a stretch since I was in Canberra in May) since the first meet-up. Is it me or is time in hyper drive of late?

South Carolina in Spring is beautiful-but something is telling me that you already know this. I just can't remember whethe you made it there last time.

You'll like Kerry. I first met her at the Adelaide BC convention last year. One morning some of us took a bus trip into the Adelaide Hills. The tour guide asked Kerry if she was a Bookcrosser. Her emphatic reply: "No, I'm NORMAL!"

I think the Family Skyring will probably enjoy a bit of time away. After having a stressful time, sometimes it can make a world of difference just to get a bit of room to breathe and think. And that's coming from personal experience...

Yay!

Hope you have a FABULOUS time! And I fully expect an EXTREMELY detailed lj for the time you are away, so those of us who are poor get to enjoy it just as much!

Great news!

Osaka was just a stop on the way to Charleston...

I spent Easter with Bookczuk (and MartiP and some of the other wonderful SC BXers), I had a wonderful time, helped check out the convention hotel, and got shown all the OBCZs in the city.

April's a good time of year in Charleston (actually, it's good anywhere, really), but there wasn't much in the way of cherry blossoms. Nor the emotional depth of Hiroshima.

I'm really looking forward to this upcoming trip. Not so much for the places, as the people.

We'll see, but with tenm days to do the trip, I can't be everywhere. I certainly would love to see Frankfurt again, and will be back as soon as I can swing it.

And loving it!

We'll see. I made it there last April, but it was only the Admiral's Club at O'Hare...

Chicago is definitely on the cards for a future trip.

I need a job just to pay for the holidays...

Seriously, a round the world ticket gets you twenty flights for about three thousand dollars. That's with Qantas/BA etc. There are cheaper options, particularly for students.

Going on past performance, don't expect too much from my LJ. What usually happens is that I post long descriptions of the early days of a trip, but as soon as I get to a convention all my spare time vanishes and internet time gets taken up with making release notes.

Yea! I can't wait to meet you both. If you are bringing the kids and need another driver just let me know, I can easily swing by DC and pick you up as well.

Yeah, it's definitely about the people. I'm trying to sort this August's trip and realized it's not so much about wanting to get to Sydney/Brisbane/Canberra/ etc again as wanting to see the people who are there.

I knew you were seeing BookCzuk etc but couldn't rememeber whether it was in Charleston or they were at the convention. I do remember telling a few people that they needed to find you Dunkin' Donuts :)
