Glory and Trumpets!
Last night I plucked up my courage and raised the question of Charleston with Kerri. And she said Yes!
So I'll be attending this year's convention!
And very likely Kerri will as well. Probably the kids won't. All tied up with school holidays and work, but I'm pretty sure that Kerri will be able to make it.
If so, we'll be spending time in Paris, Guernsey, Washington and Charleston. I've been yearning to walk with Kerri through the places I discovered last year, particularly St Malo. It's lovely to find new and interesting destinations, far better to have someone's hand to hold and a shared joy.
More details later. Itinerary quite up in the air, but it may be that we go the "wrong way" around, that is, from west to east.
And yes, ResQgeek, I or we would love to stay with you in Washington and drive down to Charleston.

Tell Reggie to look the other way when I meet you, because I'm gonna wrap my arms around you and not let go!

At the same time I feel more and more jealous. Almost everyone I care about is going. Just not me. :-(

Chicago is definitely on the cards for a future trip.

South Carolina in Spring is beautiful-but something is telling me that you already know this. I just can't remember whethe you made it there last time.

I spent Easter with Bookczuk (and MartiP and some of the other wonderful SC BXers), I had a wonderful time, helped check out the convention hotel, and got shown all the OBCZs in the city.
April's a good time of year in Charleston (actually, it's good anywhere, really), but there wasn't much in the way of cherry blossoms. Nor the emotional depth of Hiroshima.
I'm really looking forward to this upcoming trip. Not so much for the places, as the people.

I knew you were seeing BookCzuk etc but couldn't rememeber whether it was in Charleston or they were at the convention. I do remember telling a few people that they needed to find you Dunkin' Donuts :)

I think the Family Skyring will probably enjoy a bit of time away. After having a stressful time, sometimes it can make a world of difference just to get a bit of room to breathe and think. And that's coming from personal experience...
Yay!
Re: Yay!
Seriously, a round the world ticket gets you twenty flights for about three thousand dollars. That's with Qantas/BA etc. There are cheaper options, particularly for students.
Going on past performance, don't expect too much from my LJ. What usually happens is that I post long descriptions of the early days of a trip, but as soon as I get to a convention all my spare time vanishes and internet time gets taken up with making release notes.
Great news!

I have just booked my flight, as well. :)
