I've been transferring entries from my "Skyring" journal over to my "CanberraCabbie" journal, and it is interesting to look back on my feelings and thoughts about the job ahead. For example, I didn't want to do nightshift, for fear of drunks and violence, but in practice, I've been on night shift ever since I began. And I'm loving it.

And the way things are working out, my first year as a cabbie should be an interesting one - after decades as a monopoly in Canberra, a new taxi company is starting up. I'll be on hand to document the drama.

Hehehe. Thanks for that line.

And thanks for the travel mug! I have been trying to find a way to upload images - I'm suffering severe computer problems - but no go.

You are an angel, and I think of you fondly with every slurp!

And there will be drama you can be sure of that. When our taxi industry was deregulated a few years back it made a big difference. Existing cabbies moaned loud and long and there are now considered to be far too many taxis for the size of the city. Mind you, you still can't always get one when you want it.
Good luck with chronicling it.

I think I'm perenially on night shift, even if work happens during the day.

Link to the CC journal as http://www.livejournal.com/canberracabbie doesn't seem to be it? I'm sure you've posted it but I think we all know I haven't kept up.

I still ♥ that icon. That was such a fun trip. Fun seems so wrong to describe the site of an atomic bomb, but I think you know what I mean. I'm so glad you decided to visit Japan.

Cari, it was very sweet of you to give me a space on your couch and guide me through the land of incomprehensible. Yes, I know exactly what you mean. That was a trip to remember, and I enjoyed it immensely!

http://canberracabbie.livejournal.com should work.

I haven't been keeping up at about the same pace as you, I suspect - heaven knows how many posts I've missed.

*Friended* Looks like there are some great stories. And love the shot of the comet over the Brindabellas. Reminds me of the impromptu field trip with peggysmum and unbalanced. First time on a dirt road.

Little moments on trips are fun, that's why it was great to have you. And one day, you'll be able to visit me in NY.

Don't worry about having missed anything from me, I went about a month without posting. Didn't even realize it until a friend commented asking if I was OK.
