Sneezes and wheezes

I've got a cold. Today is my bundle up in bed with a good book day. And a lot of hankies and drugs and stuff. I'll be steadily improving for the next few days, but today is the low point.

Well, it looks like the job in the sex shop didn't work out. I've sent off an email enquiring about something not quite as bizarre and we'll see how that goes.

It's a lovely day outside, and I've still got a couple of streets to do on my weekend run. Maybe 25 houses. I pick up the leaflets for the weekend on Thursday nights now, so I get them done on Friday if I'm keen, Saturday if I'm slack. A bit of both on Friday.

Hit the slow cooker on Friday, because I knew I'd be busy. Dump a frozen chicken in in the morning, cover it with a bottle of marinade, switch it on, and by dinner time it's lovely and yummy.

Sauteed some spuds with garlic and onions, and cooked four mushrooms for Kerri and I as a side dish with parsley and butter. Carrots and peas for veg. I'm no great cook, but I do OK.

Get well soon. Does it help if I tell you that i can't wait to be in London again?! :-D

[identity profile] skyring.livejournal.com 2006-08-12 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! That helped! You know I have several London guidebooks and histories, and every now and then I get one out and just moon through it, dreaming...

Ha! I do the same! Or looking at London maps, tracing my way from A to B.

I really enjoyed my early-morning riverside walks along the Thames. I yearn to return and retrace my steps with Kerri, walking hand in hand along the riverbank.

My heart sings each time I return. Taking the train from Gatwick, I was on top of the world when we crossed the thames and all those familiar landmarks came into view. And more recently as my little jet came in from Frankfurt, we turned over Westminster and descended right over the central city area. They had to hold onto my legs to stop me from leaning out the window too far.

I know, I know!
I remember one time, when I left a grey and rainy Frankfurt where you couldn't see anything to descend through the clouds above London to literally fly over the City, Soho, Green Park and Hyde Park. And it was sunny as well and my heart started to jump up and down madly.

Walking along the Thames in ealy moring is sooo nice! I totally agree. It's when the city still sleeps and you have it for yourself. Lovely! :-)
Thank God I'm back in L. soon! :-D

Colour me envious!

And glad that you'll enjoy it. The next month or so will be taken up with dreaming, I'm sure!

Well, I'm already dreaming! :-D

Oh I hate getting colds! Hope you´re soon feeling better. At least you get to stay in bed, warm, reading all day!!

Hope the cold goes away fast.

Shame about the sexshop job. You would have gotten some good story lines working there!

Everything I cook in my slowcooker tastes horrid :( I'm a terrible cook, I can cook really good pizza from Pizza hut but! :)

I find that a few ingredients works better than a lot. Low and slow better than fast. And sometimes a meal tastes much better after overnight refrigeration and reheating.

Slow cooking

Love my slow cookers. I have two. One for 4 serves and one for two serves. And a leg of lamb with garlic pierced under the skin, makes a lovely dinner. Around 6 hours.

Bummer about the cold. I have been lucky so far but many people at work have tried...

Colds are nasty, only good thing is the excuse to cuddle up in bed with a good book. Hope you feel better soon.

Get well soon. Curling up with a good book and looking forward to a nice slow-cooked dinner sounds nice. Sure to ward off the cold cooties.
