Dec. 5th, 2009 09:00 amI spent some time on Thursday arranging for a preloaded credit card. The final figure was $1 350, which I am sure will be put to good use. Or frivolous fripperies. Either is good.
Finished up about midnight - I needed some sleep!
And woke near six, with plenty of time to throw some clothes into my big duffle. The hugbox goodies went into a blue bag, which fit into one end of mine nicely.
And then well before eight, a silver service limo arrived, driven by an immaculately-uniformed chauffeur, who hefted our luggage, tucked us in, and drove us to the airport.
We had about an hour in the lounge, coffee and magazines, breakfast and juice, before our flight was called. Lovely ride up to Brisbane, country New South Wales looking very dry.
Rental car turned out to be a silver Falcon, lots of buttons to press and an iPod cable included. Oh yeah - my iPhone has carked it again. Just when I need it. We drove up to Womble's town, met her at a coffee shop where the staff were heavy on the tatts and piercings, and handed over the hugbox.
That was sweet joy, and a special thanks to Discoverylover for getting that project rolling. Incidentally, DL was the source of a leak - Wombles noticed a journal entry on a book for the box which got her wondering.
So good to see her again and to be the messenger of so much love. I really have an amazing set of friends.
And then, all too soon, back on the road and up to Noosa. We stopt in Cooroy - just south of Skyring - where we bought groceries. Parked outside a liquor store, where Kerri gave her order for gin, and DD, DS and I got out. We opened the shop door, walked in and the staff were greeted by three perfectly blank faces as we scanned from left to right looking for alcohol. Seems that the grog shop is next to a camping goods store and we'd pict the wrong door.
Got our grog, found the ferry, found the place on Noosa North Shore, got our keys and settled in. We're sharing the house with my elder sister and her husband, while there are three other houses for the other family members, spouses and children. All in bushland, quite and secluded.
Afternoon and evening of conversation, eating and drinking. So good to catch up, especially with my father who is looking very good.
More later - it's still early, and there's some more visiting before we're off to the Eumundi markts.
