Discoverylover delight
Sep. 2nd, 2009 11:13 amA few months ago, when Discoverylover was on her way to Camp Potomac Woods, I arranged for her to get a bunch of stuff. I sent Tim Tams and chocolate, others sent other goodies, and I also ordered some goodies from Levenger, basically a letter size Circa journal, a portable page punch and some photo holders. This was partly to save on postage, because it costs a fortune to send stuff over from the USA. Levenger Fedexes their packages, and that's big bucks, especially when I usually don't need something immediately. I can wait a few weeks.
The idea was that she could construct a travel journal, pasting in maps and tickets, postcards, menus etc. I've tried the Junior size, and the pages just aren't big enough for a lot of travel ephemera. Letter size works better.
One of the extras for me was a Levenger Cubi 3x5 card holder. They don't seem to have it on their site any more, but it looks very like this one, except big enough to hold a bunch of 3x5 cards.
It ties in with the personalised 3x5 cards I use with my Shirt Pocket Briefcase as permanent notes for organising information. They also double as business cards, as they have my name, email addy and website address.
I meant to collect it when I hooked up with her in Virginia in July, but she forgot it when I collected her, and there was no time when i dropped her off a minute before curfew. Basically we spent the entire time driving or at ResQgeek's, where we had a BBQ dinner.
I'm planning on hooking up with her again in Kansas City, or possibly earlier if we can arrange it, so I figured I'd collect it then, if she didn't mind lugging it about America for a couple of months.
Well, I guess she minded, and fair enough, when you are humping your bags off and on Greyhound buses, you want to get rid of as much deadweight as possible.
Yesterday I had the delightful surprise of a package from Discoverylover, containing my Cubi box. Like all Levenger products, it is beautifully constructed. It's in cherrywood and leather, comes with a few accessories, and fits my cards snugly.
Thanks, DL! So thoughtful. I'll have to find some way to reimburse the postage, especially when you must be scrimping.
