Stolen from the 2009 Christchurch Convention October newsletter:

Where in the world is Skyring?
As you can imagine, when Christchurch bookcrossers get together lately, a lot of the talk is about the convention. And even when the topic of conversation starts out as something completely different, somehow we always end up bringing it back round to April 2009.

This month’s meetup was a great example of that. We’d been talking about the Charleston Unconvention, and how much fun everyone seemed to have been having there. Of course, as happens whenever a convention is mentioned, Skyring’s name came up, and someone asked what weird and circuitous route he was taking round the world this time, which led to jokes that someone needs to design a game called “Where in the World is Skyring?”

And that, after much giggling and crazy suggestions, evolved into an idea for a fun icebreaker game for Friday night’s meet and greet. We aren’t giving away any details, but we decided to keep the name “Where in the World is Skyring?” in honour of our inspiration. And with a name like that, you can guarantee the game will involve tim-tams. But the rest is top secret – you’ll just have to come along to the convention if you want to find out more! ☺

What a bloody silly game. There's only one place in the world I'll be during the icebreaker, and that's right there in the room in Christchurch. Everyone will have the exact same answer, and they'll be able to point to my precise location. Maybe I'll be hiding behind a mountain of books, but on a global scale, what's new?

As to what weird and circuitous route I was taking round the world, the answer's here at my website. I'm not posting any of these entries to my blog, because I'm about two weeks behind now.
