Let's see. The oven and the George Foreman cooker cactused within a day of each other last week. A quick fix was the purchase of a microwave oven - our first ever.
Swapping the oven over was a different and far more expensive business. We decided to buy a gas oven, for the finer control over heat, and that cost a chunk of money, plus the delivery fee. Then we had to get an electrician in to remove the oven and install a new power point. And finally a gas bloke to install the gas up to the kitchen and connect the oven. That was another six hundred dollars.
But we're now cooking with gas, and I can have some decent coffee again in my stove-top coffeemaker.
Incidentally, the gas bloke's name is Ned Kelly, he's a descendant of the original, a bit of a character and a thoroughly nice chap.
A beautiful weekend. Clear blue skies. It was a pleasure to be up and about this morning just after dawn.
I've got to the point in Knighthood on Facebook where I can go to war. I've built up some reasonable defences, manned (or womanned, mainly) by the friends who have been seduced into playing this game. I gathered everyone bar a few squirrels behind my walls and set off attacking my evil neighbours. Raided for gold to begin with, and gathered in about 40 000 gold pieces. Alright! Kept on raiding until I'd looted about a quarter of a million golds and poured it into new construction, adding to my already towering defences.
Must have lucked onto someone who wasn't actively playing. I seized a vassal from them and that took me up to a new attack bracket, where I had mixed success, taking a couple of knights at the cost of a couple of squires, and spending most of my raided gold on patching up my raiders. I suspect that once a few more of my targets wake up and get angry, I might be in for a rough time!
