Victory: Unfortunately the ticket I bought, despite being valid for a year, only allows one entry aboard Victory. I can visit the nearby museum as many times as I want, but although I might be able to sneak a brass long nine out and maybe mount it in a jollyboat and become the terror of the Solent, it's not quite the same thing as cruising the channel in my own first rate, striding the quarterdeck and flogging the crew whenever morale drops.

Portsmouth: we moved to a hotel at Gunwharf and spent a glorious sunny day doing a harbour cruise, touring HMS Warrior, walking the Millenium Path down to the Sally Port where Nelson left dry land for the last time, and then a wonderful dinner that couldn't be beat at the Sally Port Inn.

Guernsey: another clear sunny day. Our ferry was comfortable, but jumped around a bit. We arrived, settled into our room - exactly the same one I had two years back - took a turn around the town of St Peter Port full of narrow lanes, fascinating old buildings, specialty shops, privae stairlanes climbing the hills, then had another dinner that couldn't be beat at La Peitte Hotel next door. Thoroughly sated, we'll walk it all off tomorrow.

Summary. Having an amazing good time!
