Drawing the threads together
Jan. 21st, 2008 11:08 pmToday was a day of research and Internet. No driving today - my only full day off.
I've now got all of my accommodation organised. An offer from Mrs-FB to put me up in Shrewsbury was joyfully accepted. She and her husband are total sweeties. That enabled me to book the remaining London accommodation. Earls Court YHA, added to the three nights existing. I was hoping for St Pauls for a couple of nights, but they only had a three bedder for 81 pounds, which I figured was poor value compared to Earls Court.
Oh well, I guess we can take the tube and buses into the heart of London.
Guernsey, I booked the small hotel I staid at in 2006. Not quite in the centre of town, neither, but right on the front and very comfortable. With Internet, now!
St Malo, I found a nice hotel inside the walls. For a nice price. Kerri took one look at the photograph, showing a tall grey building overlooking a narrow street, and loved it.
Bayeux, I couldn't find a way to book Hotel de la Gare online, so I gave up and reserved a room at a chain hotel that promised internet. Didn't promise parking, so this could be a worry.
I've got the trains to book, one more day in Portsmouth, and maybe sort out the flight home. It's booked for a day later than we really want, so I'll have to move that forward. Or add another day to London.
All in all, I'm getting very excited about this holiday. Filling in the blanks in my spreadsheet with confirmed booking details and printing out the confirmation emails for my folder of documents.
