As Bookczuk would say.

Our twenty year old fridge kicked the bucket today. Maybe it's repairable, probably is, but it's knocked about, has trim missing and shelves loose and I think it's time for a new one. I don't want to be locked into a spiral of repair bills for a decrepit old fridge.

So I've got to go shop for a replacement. And find some ice so we can keep a bit of this stuff cold in an esky.

Blast. Just when I've already got a million other things on my plate (and credit card).

Oh yeah. It's raining.

In other news, a Columbia jacket from eBay arrived yesterday. Very practical because it's light and compact, good protection from wind and wet, draw cords and zip pockets in the right places, hood and peak. Not terribly elegant, but it's something I can squash into my carryon and have available if I'm separted from my baggage.

Just had word that Sydney BookCrosser [livejournal.com profile] sabavana has joined LJ. She's the young lady who fronts up at the doctors and they slice off her BookCrossing t-shirt before asking if there's anything wrong.

In other news, I spent half the day with my teenage daughter looking for two things - a new fridge and a couple of Narnia books. Let me tell you that at the moment it is a lot easier to get hold of a new fridge!

We finally found the books we wanted at "The Bookery" and the fridge was in the fourth or fifth mega-store after a great deal of comparison shopping. I started off looking at "upside-down" models, because that's what we have now, but ended up leaning toward the "side-by-side" type, because we're always cramped for freezer space, and the fridge we eventually purchased was one of these, with a larger capacity than our current one.

It was on special, standing side by side with an identical model $700 more expensive. The only difference was the brand name. And they included delivery and hauling away the old one within 24 hours.

So that's that. Another sizable chunk out of the credit card. ***SIGH***
