The Great River
Nov. 3rd, 2004 07:40 pmI'm shipping my first Amazon.com order today, a book of Matisse drawings. I'm hoping that it's the first of many more.
Couldn't get much in the way of work done today - too busy watching the election coverage. Still not decided as I write these words, with CNN giving 249/242 in Bush's favour. The interesting thing is that this election is virtually a carbon copy of the previous one in everything but voter turnout, which seems to have set a new record. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it comes down to court challenges. Again.
And in this respect I note that the campaign of hatred directed at Bush hasn't worked, just as the same sort of vitriol aimed at John Howard in Australia fizzled. If the campaign had worked in the USA, those record turnouts would have been all anti-Bush, but it hasn't worked that way. In fact, just as in Australia, there was a swing towards the incumbent, with Bush winning the popular vote he'd lost in 2000.
It will be interesting to see how Tony Blair fares in the UK next year. Without knowing much about the political situation, my guess is that he too will hold onto office.
I've got to pull my finger out. I'll have the animals chapter up on Lulu tonight, but there are still many to go.
1. Stace
2. Land

12. Byron Bay
13. Gold Coast

Chapter 16 will not be in the draft edition due for completion on Sunday night.
Chapters 4, 6, 7 and 8 are all but untouched, and everything else is at least half done.
So I know where I'm going, I've got most of the writing done, I need to do a bit more research, finish off the cover, get the photographs in and fill in the appendix.
And my copy of the new freebie Bookcrossing book arrived. Must find time to read it.
