More Fun on the Stockmarket
Sep. 28th, 2004 03:10 pmOK. After a few days of studying the prices fairly intently, I found the gap between Amcor and Santos had opened up enough to make the trade worthwhile. At one stage it had shrunk to nothing and I was all but kicking myself for missing the opportunity when it was 12c. Today it opened out to 44c for a few brief moments, but then dropped like a stone, losing 15c in as many minutes.
So I made the trades at market, and of course the prices steadied.
But that's OK. Santos had gone up 75c since I bought, and Amcor dropped 22c, so in effect I made a good profit on one and sold short on the other. I increased my parcel rather than take a profit, so I've gone from 1850 to 2190 shares in this particular parcel. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but gratifying nonetheless.
Kerri's parents have left to go back to Queensland, so I've got a bit more time on my hands, pleasant though it was to see them. Word from my mother is that the repairs on her house are complete, so that termite damage is finally finished off after a little more than a year.
I've been entering the details for a package of seven or eight books I bought at an opshop a couple of months back. I got them for 50c each, and when I finally got around to checking their prices, they turn out to be worth about $US20 each, one of them $50. Never can tell with old childrens books - there's a strong nostalgia market.
Been letting the website slide. I'll probably have to redesign the login scheme, and I keep on finding excuses to put that off.
Got just over a month to get my book finished - best get stuck into that!
