A reasonably busy holiday. Last night I had dinner with the Chief Naval Engineer, who just happens to be my brother-in-law, a chap with a shed full of old cars. He'd spend all his time tinkering with them if he could - an engineer all the way through. Had a great time with him and his father. Three bottles of wine between the five of us adults, leaving us all comfortably mellow without making pigs of ourselves.

A few Bookcrossing activities in the morning - a couple of release notes from Blossy saying she was leaving two books at the Canberra Centre in town. Grabbed two books of my own and dropped them off there - before Blossy made her way in. Might ride in tomorrow and see if I can pick up at least one of hers. She later journalled one of mine.

A journal entry on the book I gave to a tourist in Old Parliament House last week - his nephew may mention Bookcrossing in Parliament. Cool!

The Bookcrossers' Journal I took to New Zealand last year has been passed on. I'd love to take another look at it!

Grabbed a fistful of videos and DVDs from the video shop. Attack of the Clones, which I glanced at but couldn't really care about. Return of the King, which I watched again, mainly for the awesome battle scenes. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, to compare with HP3. Finding Nemo, because I'm quite sure I didn't pick up all the jokes when we watched it on the flight over to Auckland. And another one. I forget the name, but it's a recent Aussie release and I'll have to watch it tomorrow morning 'cos it's an overnighter.

Son dropped off in Jerrabombera to play computer games with a mate. Luckily I remembered the house from the last time, because we had no information on address, surname or phone number. he just says he'll show up and expects me to know where his friends live. As it was I puzzled a man in a similar looking house one street down before we found the right place. Lucky I didn't just drop him off outside and return home, eh?

Everyone has a cold bar me. Consumption of cough drops and headache tablets and the like is high. Daughter soothed her sickness with a soak in the spa in mid-afternoon and then came dripping out to tell me the hot water wouldn't stop running. Turned out to be a perished washer, which I replaced, but she'd drained all the water and wasn't keen to fill it up again just so she could put conditioner on.

Entered a few more British airfields. Half of the time there are several villages of the same name scattered over England and I have to hunt down the right one. Stapleford is a case in point. Locating the German airfields could be even trickier. I've got a list of their names, but only the most general notion of where they are.

Having troubles with my first chapter. I know what needs to be said, but I'm not sure on how to say it. Might leave it for later and go straight on to Tasmania.
