Just saw the wife off on a day trip to Sydney. I know she'll be back this evening, but I still feel a little empty while she's gone.

Cheered myself up by reading 'Nathan's website. What a hoot!

Son is gone off on his wilderness trek as well, so the place is pretty quiet and the food stocks aren't declining at the normal double-quick rate. In particular we have adequate reserves of milk and I think there's still a chocolate biscuit available in the house. Little black dog is mourning the absence of her young master and is having to make do with me, whom she usually regards as an unreliable second-rater. At the moment she's snuggled up beside the fridge, her nose in intimate contact with son's schoolbag.

Another glorious clear blue day. Curses. Got all excited last Thursday when the chap demonstrating his SmartPhone application plugged in the postcode and got a forecast for three days of rain. The little raincloud symbols were right there on the screen. Three days of rain.

Needless to say it didn't happen. Interview in the paper on the weekend with local weather forecaster who was very defensive and careful with his wording.
