Well, there's lawlessness for you

Apparently it's illegal in the UK to deface an image of the Queen. Jim Hawkins of BBC Radio Shropshire just borrowed a fiver from a colleague, drew a moustache on it, and gloated, live on air.

Feels really weird to listen to the show in the morning instead of the evening.

The guards from The Tower have just turned up to arrest him!

;)

I remember once, at school in England when I was 11, my science teacher, for some reason I can't recall, took a penny and held it in a bunsen burner flame until it melted. He was adamant that no one speak a word of this atrocity outside the classroom. I remember this because it was my penny that he defaced; I thought it was cool and couldn't understand why he didn't want us to tell anyone.

A secret you have carried to this day! I hope he didn't get his fingers burnt.

It is illegal in Canada too, which is the supposed reason for the illegality elongated coin (penny squishing)machines here. The few that I have seen here either stipulate that you use an American penny, or the machine supplies its own copper token. Somehow it's not quite the same.

How does one listen to Jim's show online anyway?

You may go here and click the "Listen Live" link. I think you have to have RealPlayer installed, which is apparently a problem for some.

it's technically illegal to deface/alter U.S. currency as well. I don't know how the machine owners get away with it.

*lol*! JimOn rocks! I have to go over to the BBC Shropshire page to listen again! (I hope it was part of the second hour).
I managed to plug my computer into my amplifier, so now I can listen to BBC Shropshire as if on-air (except air transmission doesn't drop out :-) ).
