Booktalk

Following hard on the heels of my receiving (notification of) the first royalty payments for my book, I finally booted up a photoshop program, adjusted the front cover so my name doesn't get cut off, uploaded it to Lulu and actually ordered ten copies of my own book. Woo-hoo!

Mind you, I was cheapskate enough to drop the royalty amounts down to zero for my order - don't want to pay out more than I have to. Got a substantial discount for ordering more than five of my own title, but the postage from the USA took the gloss off my happy smile.

I'll be able to hand out copies during my winter trip north to see the family in Queensland.

Had to create a new edition - the fourth - so i could upload a new cover. http://www.lulu.com/content/56751 is the new URL.

Researching the London thing, and thinking very hard about getting stuck into the next book. I want to have that finished by August, just in case.

Have to think about a cover picture. Perhaps a series of five books dangling from the "Skyring Creek" sign on the Bruce Highway. Unlikely to find anything to match the gigantic cave troll in Wellington. That was just serendippity doo-dah.

A cool day here in Canberra. We took the dog for a walk to the Carillon just on sunset, and I can see that I'd best wear gloves next time. Spent a lot of the walk with my hands deep in the pockets of my AusDev.NET fleece.

The simplest is sometimes the best. The college poetry book that I contributed to one year was called River Breezes and it just had a simple wavy line in blue under the title suggesting the river in motion. I like the string of books idea, but that sounds more like a themed release book concept instead of a book travelling concept. (I forgot the book's theme, but I think it involves Bookcrossing books travelling.)
