Kerri's sister has been away overseas for the past three weeks. Her husband, now a senior naval officer, was one of the "plank owners" of HMAS Darwin when she was commissioned in Seattle twenty some years back and they returned with their two children, one of them twenty-some years old, to see the land of his birth.

Kerri's father has been minding the farm during their absence, and we've shared meals at either place. The farm is great on a hot day because they have a swimming pool, but our house is more convenient - and we can enjoy a glass or three.

But alas, with the ending of the holidays, FIL is off back to Queensland, so we had them all over for one final get together last night. They were a liittle tired, having flown in from Los Angeles Saturday morning, and with work and school tomorrow we didn't keep them too long, but it was a pleasant meal. Kerri did a cold leek and potato soup, and then we had marinated chicken wings and salad before a honey semolina and berry dessert which didn't quite work out, but was pretty good.

DD doesn't start back at uni for a while, and she drove DS into his first day at college, while I bummed around and caught up and did chores and spoke to journalists and travel editors.

Woosang, if The Canberra Times comes calling, you may blame me. After this morning's story on the railway historical society, the chap who writes the Capital Circle column was very interested in your railway historical wedding, particularly when I mentioned the BookCrossing connection.
