DD came home from uni yesterday, with news of a book sale at the library. $1 and $2 books, and there's some good ones there!

I quizzed her, and it sounded like there were some good specialist non-fiction books, and I'm always interested in such things.

Her university library's idea of a book sale isn't grand - they put a table in the corridor outside and have maybe a hundred books, but I've caught some bargains there, so high petrol prices notwithstanding, we jumped in the car and tootled off.

Good books they were indeed, and I scopped up a couple of armloads. Some I was taking a chance on, but these were ones worth a punt. Besides which at a couple of dollars a pop, i couldn't go wrong - the local opshop charges $3 for even the dreariest dog-eared thriller, and these were books in pristine condition, library markings aside.

DD chucked in a couple of books she wanted - dear me, where did she ever get such a taste for popular mathematics, fractals and things - and we dumped them on the library desk. Supposed to be two bucks a hardback, and one for a softcover, but she gave me the 29 books for $25 and I was happy.

As ever, there's a few books in the bundle worth at least the cost of the lot.
