Sing a song of saucepans
Jul. 28th, 2005 03:39 pmLate afternoon at the Skyring house. DD, has the afternoon off, so she goes to collect DS, who has a sore leg and is unable to walk home. He has to be torn away from his girlfriends. I think the reason DD offers to pick him up is so she can keep an eye on his love life, such as it is.
Anyway, as with teenage boys, first thing home after school and he wants something to fill in the gap between lunch and dinner, so he makes up a mess of two-minute noodles. To do this he has to clean the small saucepan, and I walk in with a load of laundry just as he's scrubbing away at it.
"Rub a dub dub - three men in a tub!" I say. Goodness knows where that came from.
"You gotta wonder about that," he replies.
And we both fall about laughing. Neither of us, until that moment, had connected the nursery rhyme with anything but a jolly voyage.
