Bookczuk suggested I was jet-lagged and maybe I was. I've been going through my Monopoly releases and I found a "Mystery Book"

What the...!

Hmmm. So what book did I leave at Marlborough Street? Mind a fog, so I turned to the photographic record. ah yes. It was outside the Liberty shop. I actually left it on Carnaby Street a few metres away from the intersection, but it was Ken McClure's Web of Deception, which I've somehow released in Leicester Square and Pall Mall. What the...?

Well, what books were left at those locations? "Not the Whole Truth" at Leicester Square, OK, that tallies with the photo. The photographic record says I left "Genesis II" at Pall Mall, in a gaspingly uninspired location*, but there's no record of this book on my bookshelf.

OK. I think I've got enough to sort it out now. Genesis II is the mystery book, left at Pall Mall, not Northumberland Street, and Web of Deception was left at Marlborough Street not Pall mall or Leicester Square. I may have even made a record of the BCID.

Anyone following this? Let me stress the importance of proper record-keeping. Thank goodness I took photographs along the way or it would never get fixed! I might take the time to photograph the BCID next time I release a book, rather than hand-scrawl it in my journal, usually without a support and clutching books, camera tote bag with a security guard wondering what I'm doing.

*Stickytaped to a sign saying "Pall Mall"

Czukdear, I am in your debt for that one! You told me at the time, but you have no idea of the joy that flooded through me when I saw those clickable links in my journal entries. Not that big a thing, I realise, but you took the time and interest to do it, and that means a lot to me!

Little voice recorders also work - I have often recorded my BCID and location rather than scribbled notes.

No, I'm not following this, but then, I came close to passing out with heatstroke today, so I'm allowed. ;-)

You can make the links clickable? Is that by including a bit of regular HTML, or does one need special code?

regular html

ie (changing the brackets to the pointy ones:

[a href="http://www.bookcrossing.com"]bookcrossing[/a]

would then become bookcrossing

Works in LJ and in journal notes

Heatstroke!

You should get out of the kitchen - all that slavering over a hot stove, why it can't be good for you!
