Just waiting for Sister Wendy to fill the last hour before midnight. American Masterpieces - by chance I have the book, bought on special on impules at Dymocks and though there is rather too much modern art for my taste, there is far more than enough of the painting I like to satisfy. Feininger - two of his sweetest. A couple of Andrew Wyeth that are just gorgeous in their detail and execution. Some abstracts, including Blue Poles. And many more. sister Wendy seems to find something to love in each.

Booked my New Zealand hire car yester day. The rental offices are all closed by the time our flight arrives in Dunedin, and consequently I couldn't book the thing on the net. Finally had to ring up and talk to someone - always a struggle - but we sorted it out. They meet all bookings, despite the office times. Got the smallest automatic on their books. Getting tired of driving big family cars, and this will be the size of our old Laser from twenty years back. Room for a couple in the back if we need, but mostly it will be just Kerri and I.

Decided not to post books to NZ, UK and USA. Kerri and I will have two bags plus carryon, and I reckon I can cram a few books into the tote bag and we'll pool our clothes in the big black bag. For the RTW trip, I'll have US baggage allowances and that means a fair few books.

I've got just enough time to Economy Air all the Tim-Tams over to Fort Worth - bought lots on Saturday, much to the consternation of the checkout chick. Individually wrapped for goodie bags, and enough in packets to cater for a morning tea or something. I'll carry a few in my luggage for London.

Next step is to register enough books to last me the distance. All told I'll need a couple of hundred, heavily skewed towards lighter and smaller books.

My convention journal is in Leeds, and I'm hoping I can get it airmailed to Christchurch in time for it to make the NZ and Fort Worth conventions. Those two plus meetups in London and San Francisco should be enough to make it number one on the most travelled list. That would be nice.
